Who Speaks, Who Listens @2025
Short Film, Psychological Drama + Sci-Fi
Who Speaks, Who Listens is a psychological sci-fi drama that follows Htin, a 21-year-old woman who moves to Bangkok in search of a fresh start. Excited but also uncertain and lonely, she hopes for a new chapter in her life.
On her first night in the new apartment, Htin sits quietly, wishing and praying for everything to be okay. Suddenly, she finds a mysterious ring. When she puts it on, she receives a cryptic message from an unknown number:
“You don’t have to be afraid. Everything will be alright.”
Soon, she begins receiving mysterious phone calls that predict future events. At the same time, she meets Cherry, a lively, supportive woman who brings joy into her life. But as the calls grow eerily precise, Htin starts to question reality. How does the voice know so much? And why does Cherry appear and disappear without explanation?
As doubt creeps in, Htin uncovers a shocking truth: the calls are real but Cherry isn’t. The voice is her future self, guiding her across time. All along, she had been supporting herself, believing she needed someone else when, in fact, she was always capable on her own.
In the final moment, the phone rings once more. This time, Htin chooses to throw the ring away and make her own decision—symbolizing her choice to take control of her future.
Who Speaks, Who Listens is a sci-fi drama about fate, self-discovery, and the power of trusting one’s instincts. It explores what happens when we realize that the voices guiding us may be more real than we imagined and how, in the end, we must learn to trust ourselves, even when the future feels uncertain.
