My name is Htoo Khant San, and I am a Burmese graphic designer and visual artist based in Bangkok, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Art in Visual Communication Design. My multidisciplinary practice spans typography, branding, publication design, motion graphics, illustration, painting, mixed media, and material experimentation. Working across both digital and physical media, I create visual experiences that explore identity, technology, culture, and storytelling.

I was born and raised in Ye, a small town in southern Mon State, Myanmar. Growing up in an environment that valued education and creativity, I developed an early interest in art as a way of understanding the world. After graduating from high school, I studied English at Yangon University of Foreign Languages before beginning my artistic practice in 2020 through commissioned work and self-initiated projects. Experimenting with painting, illustration, collage, and mixed media became the foundation for developing my creative voice.

The coup in Myanmar in 2021 profoundly changed the course of my life. Seeking the opportunity to continue learning and growing, I moved to Thailand to pursue art and design more seriously. Since then, studying Visual Communication Design has expanded my perspective, allowing me to combine artistic expression with design thinking while engaging with new communities and creative disciplines.

My work explores themes of identity, cultural memory, migration, and social change. Drawing from personal experiences alongside broader social and cultural contexts, I use visual communication as a way to tell stories, ask questions, and create meaningful dialogue. Whether designing a publication, developing a typographic system, or creating a painting, I approach each project with curiosity, research, and a commitment to thoughtful craftsmanship.

As both a designer and an artist, I see creativity as a process of continual learning and experimentation. I strive to create work that is conceptually grounded, visually engaging, and emotionally resonant. Through my practice, I hope to contribute meaningful perspectives, foster connections across cultures, and continue refining a visual language that bridges art and design.
